Dr. Chris Lekich

Dr. Lekich specialised in the treatment of varicose and spider veins following the serious complications his wife had with varicose veins during pregnancy. As well of offering a comprehensive modern non-surgical treatment for varicose veins, Dr. Lekich established a pregnancy vein service to support women with varicose veins during pregnancy.

After completing his medical degree in 1991 from the University of Queensland, Dr. Lekich worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital as a resident for three years. As a senior medical officer he completed numerous country hospital rotations as a relieving Medical Superintendent. At Royal Brisbane Hospital his focus was on surgical/procedural-based specialisations.

After training through the Australasian College of Phlebology, Dr. Lekich established VenusCentre Vein Clinic servicing the Gold Coast, Brisbane, regional Queensland and Northern NSW.

Mentors of note are Australasian College of Phlebology founding members Dr. Thibault (the father of Phlebology in Australia), Dr. Loizou, Dr. Parsi (current college president), Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Graiche.
Dr. Lekich regularly attends conferences and ongoing education seminars and monthly college clinical and journal club meeting as continuing medical education. Among other professional memberships, Dr. Lekich is a member of the Australasian College of Phlebology.

Apart from the study of medicine, whilst working full time, Dr. Lekich has furthered his university education completing a postgraduate law degree (Juris Doctor) from Bond University in 2004 inspired by the indemnity crisis. He then completed the Bar Practice Course at the Queensland University of Technology in 2005 and was admitted as a Barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2005. He completed his Masters of Business Administration at Bond University later and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Bond University Medical School.

Dr. Lekich is a devoted husband and father of three young children, two girls and a boy. He enjoys jogging while his children ride their bikes. He is a keen surfer, golfer, water and snow skier.

Dr Paul Hannah

Dr. Paul Hannah graduated from Melbourne University in 1980, and after 3 years of Residency took up positions in the UK (training in Obstetrics), France (Emergency Rescue) and then Tanzania (3rd World Medicine - Dr. Hannah was born in Tanzania where his father was a Medical Missionary). He eventually settled down in General Practice in Melbourne as a GP Obstetrician delivering up to 40 babies a year.

He first trained in Vein Sclerotherapy in 1990 in the pre-ultrasound days when the results were not as reliable as they are now, and after a few years later moved to the Gold Coast and changed to Emergency Medicine where he passed the part 1 Emergency specialty exams.

Dr. Hannah's interest in the non-surgical treatment of veins is personal as he had his veins stripped in 1986 and again in 1995 – both times recurring. It was the growing use of Ultrasound in Emergency that got him interested in Dr. Lekich's work and subsequently joined him in his Vein Clinic (after having his own veins successfully treated with endovascular laser and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy!).

Dr. Hannah is an Associate Professor at Bond University where he teaches the undergraduate medical program.

His hobbies are traveling, skiing, surfing and learning languages (Spanish, Swahili and Japanese being passable). If he ever gets any spare time he wants to finish off his Master's Degree in Japanese Language at Bond Uni!
